The canvas has been lined and provides a stable support.
There are some minor spots of surface dirt.
Upon close inspection, there are fine lines of stable craquelure - these are across the work, but not dense.
There is some light rubbing to the far edges of the work.
Inspection under UV light reveals some small scattered spots of retouching, mainly to the background, but there are some small flecks of retouching to the sitter's chin and neck, and a spot to the centre of the sitter's right sleeve.
