The canvas is unlined and the varnish is dirty and scuffed. The craquelure is particularly pronounced in the lower left corner. There is minor abrasion around the edge of the canvas presumably where the frame has rubbed. There is a small paint loss to the wall upper right and two small dents to the canvas, centre left.

Inspection under UV light reveals: scattered old restorations to the wall and table, right; a few infillings to the skin tones; old restoration to the shadow tones of the arm centre right; scattered small infillings to the landscape in the distance and some strengthening to the curtain centre.
