[NOTE: Gerard van Swieten (1700-1772) was a prominent Dutch physician who studied under Herman Boerhaave in Leiden. His commentaries on Boerhaave's "Aphorisms", which focused on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, played a significant role in spreading the teachings and influence of the "Dutch School" of medicine throughout Europe in the 18th century.]
