Inscribed in the print, Estate of Mercedes Matter, on the backside. Mercedes Matter is known for Abstract expressionist still life painting, drawing, educator. Best known as a painter of abstract still life and founder of the New York Studio School, Mercedes Matter was also a distinguished teacher and writer.
