Description
American. 1950s. Steel, aluminum. Racing motor. "Quickie" lower unit. This 10 hp Mercury is made for freshwater. This outboard engine weighs approximately 70 pounds. It has 2 cylinders. The pistons have a 19.8 displacement. The bore width is 2.44" and the stroke length is 2.12". This model has a recoil starter and power steering. Mercury engineers came out with the Super 10 Hurricane, Model KG-7 in 1950. This motor was based on previous models KE-7 Lightning and KF-7 Super 10 Lightning. Upgrades included redesigned connecting rods, upgraded aluminum clamp and swivel brackets, a new higher RPM magneto, improved porting, an 8 Reed valve cage (as opposed to KE-7 and KF-7's 4), and a larger crankcase opening. Marked, "Mercury, Serial no. 472422". 38" x 12" x 20". From the Late Robert Spittel Collection.
