United States or Canada, ca. 20th century CE. A unusual scrimshawed bone with a the logo of a mining company, an oil well (derrick) to one side and some type of tool or pump on the other. This bone is striated with age and has a curved profile, perhaps a rib bone. The lower right corner is signed by the artist: "Davis (or David) L. Marquis." Size: 3.5" L x 1.25" W (8.9 cm x 3.2 cm)

Condition
Natural striations and patina on the bone. Old losses to the ends of each side and verso. Scrimshaw motif and signature are excellent and sharp.
