Spanish empire, Bolivia or Peru mint, ca. 1590 to 1650 CE. Spanish silver 4 cob coinage from one of the New World mines and mints of South America. Coins like this were most often minted from the silver mines in Potosi, Bolivia, and then shipped to Spain to pay for its many years of warfare. In Spanish, the cob coin is known as the macuquina. Size: 0.55" W (1.4 cm); 0.9 grams
