**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Gulf Coast of Mexico, Veracruz, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A hand-built pottery head of a figure resembling a coast watcher. The impressed eyes are situated above a prominent nose and full lips, and the headdress would have been adorned with projecting panels and flanges at one time. The hollow verso suggests this was a standalone head rather than originating as part of a larger figure. Size: 2.5" L x 4.375" W x 4.9" H (6.4 cm x 11.1 cm x 12.4 cm); 5.4" H (13.7 cm) on included custom stand.
