Description
Meissen (German) Painted Porcelain Figurines, Children Engaged in Leisure & Chore, Ca. 1900, H 6.25" W 2" Depth 2.5" 4 pcs | the lot includes a child with a rooster (H 6.25" X W 2" X D 2.5"), a child with lute rake (H 5.5" X W 2.5" X D 2.25"), a child feeding a dog (H 4.5" X W 2.25" X D 2.25"), and a child in adoration of a toy lamb (H 5.75" X W 2.5" X D 2.75"). Each with numerical markings incised to the undersides with cobalt Meissen mark under glaze. Circa 1900. Provenance: Property inherited by descent, Harrisville, Michigan.
Condition
As-is condition. When viewed under UV light, inpainting and conservation fluoresced to the rake boy's hat. The figurine of the boy with dog has conservation and inpainting to the extended arm, brim of hat, and dog's front standing leg. The figurine of boy with rooster has conservation and inpainting to the hand holding the onion. The figurine with the lamb toy has missing plumes on the hat.
