LARGE SILVER HANDWASHING VESSEL for the PRIESTS in the SYNAGOGUE
For your viewing pleasure is a large silver handwashing vessel for the priests in the synagogue. The center of the vessel is adorned with exquisite engravings depicting the hands of the priest raising palms to bless. Beneath, the beginning of the Priestly Blessing is inscribed: 'MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU AND GUARD YOU.' Three handles are attached to the vessel for holding it from side to side.

HISTORY of SALES: A few years ago, silver vessels (not from synagogue !) were sold on Live Auctioneers for $1,300 (2 years ago), $5,000 (12 years ago), and $15,000 (2 years ago) - please refer to the screenshots for details. Today, prices have significantly increased compared to those of 5-10 years ago.
WARRANTY: The buyer has 3 days to inspect items for originality, valued at up to $5,000, and 5 days for items valued at $5,000 or more. Items can be returned to the seller for a refund; please refer to the Terms for more details.
NO RESERVE: Most of the auctioned items have NO reserve price or have reserve prices set at incredibly low levels, typically ranging from 30-40% of the low estimate price.

PRIESTS: It is customary for priests to raise their hands and bless the people every day in the land of Israel. However, in many communities abroad, priests only raise their hands during the additional Musaf service. Due to the importance and significance of this occasion, special and honorable vessels are prepared for the priests to perform the handwashing ritual. The Levites in the synagogue serve the Kohanim and assist them in washing their hands.

SINAGOGUE: A synagogue is a Jewish or Samaritan house of worship. Synagogues have a large place for prayer (the main sanctuary) and may also have smaller rooms for study and sometimes a social hall and offices. Some have a separate room for Torah study, called the beth midrash "house of study". Synagogues are consecrated spaces used for the purpose of prayer, Tanakh (the entire Hebrew Bible, including the Torah) reading, study and assembly; however, a synagogue is not necessary for worship. Halakha holds that communal Jewish worship can be carried out wherever ten Jews (a minyan) assemble. Worship can also be carried out alone or with fewer than ten people assembled together. However, halakha considers certain prayers as communal prayers and therefore they may be recited only by a minyan. In terms of its specific ritual and liturgical functions, the synagogue does not replace the long-since destroyed Temple in Jerusalem.
