The cases were made in 1856, in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with high polished finish. The movement is earlier, just made by Evans Shrewsbury probably at the end of the 18th century, circa 1763-1790. As a note this piece was made when Evans was not in partnership with Brown as a company (Ref: BL).
Movement: Fusee and chain movement, signed Evans Shrewsbury and numbered 783. Gilded verge movement with engraved and pierced balance cock, 44 mm with round pillars. In perfect working order and running well. Key set from front and wound from rear, winding counter clockwise
Dial: Original double track dial, round white porcelain with hourly applied black Romans numerals bordered by a minute track, 44.75 mm. Nice half hunter style hour and minute hands in gold with double pointer. The hands and crystal are original .
Key: Size 2 and measures of 47mm by 15mm. Made up in sterling silver with a detailed standing eagle facing to the left.
Inner case: Round, diameter of 49.5 mm. Birmingham hallmarks for 1856 and maker?s mark RC. Also stamped with the movement serial number 783. Excellent condition throughout. The high dome crystal is perfect. The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut nicely.
Outer case: Round, diameter of 58 mm. Matching hallmarks to the inner. Again in very good condition. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. This outer case contains 3 watch papers from the movement maker (Evans & Brown), dated 1867, 1869 and 1900, each one with the owner?s name and address on the back. The company partnership of Evans and Brown is listed at the Brian Loomes book as being in Shrewsbury between 1863 and 1922.

Overall Measures: 76.5 mm by 58 mm by 25.2 mm (3.01 x 2.28 x 1.0 Inches).
