Rare Original Joseph Banks' Florilegium Engraving - Plate 244 DEPLANCHEA TETRAPHYLLA (BIGNONIACEAE). Printer's Proof No. 2 of 3. Printed by Malcolm Humble. Published: London: Alecto Historical Editions in association with the British Museum (Natural History), 1983. The engraving is complete with its original mounting located in a custom incorporated envelop on verso. Professionally matted and framed under Museum Archival Glass. Approx. Size: Unframed: Broadsheet folio 29" H x 22.5" W; Framed: 41" H x 35" W. Note: This plate is sold out and is no longer available from Alecto Historical Editions.

Provenance: The engraving was acquired directly from the London Printer in June 1986, meeting in person with Malcolm Humble who had been issued all or a portion of the printer?s proof set 2/3, from which was purchased this engraving. Included is a Certificate of Authenticity as well as several letters, notes, etc. documenting this provenance.

Additional Information: A color Line engraving by Daniel MacKenzie after Sydney Parkinson (1770) and Frederick Polydore Nodder. Joseph Banks and his party saw this species at: Endeavour River, Australia (17 June - 4 August 1770). From the Australia Plates (Parts 1 - 15).

Medium: color engraving and etching (? la poup?e) with hand-coloring.
