After printing and shipping only 800 first issue copies of the intended 2,200, Liveright, Inc. went bankrupt and the printer refused to release the remaining 1,400 copies. Harcourt, Brace and Company took over publication and released this second issue in the same year with the bottom of the title-page replaced and without the notice of presswork on the copyright page.
