US Air Force Spectre AC130H gunship pilots patch, worn by the pilot of the Grim 31 gunship during Operation Anaconda in March 2002, 3.5 inches diameter, written in the margins of the patch reads 'ANACONDA - MAR 2002.' During the operation, Grim 31 was designated to eliminate enemy positions and encampments in the rugged Afghanistan valley. During their 2 hour long bombardment, the gunship provided cover for helicopters to exfiltrate 82 US Army soldiers trapped in the area. For their efforts, the 14 crew members were awarded the Clarence Mackay Trophy by the National Aeronautic Association in 2002. With a color picture of the Grim 31 crew in front of their AC-130H, written on the back reads 'March 2002,' 4 x 6 inches. Also included is the Fall Awards Banquet program from their awards ceremony signed by the pilot of the Grim 31 and the original owner of the patch, Francis S. Gay.
