Featured in this lot is a Japanese wooden hanging Dojo sign, circa 19th century to early 1900s. The sign features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wooden construction with metal eyelets. The sign shows a single plank with Japanese characters carved into the sign translating to 'Guri' and shows the business marking in smaller characters on the sides of the sign. This is a overhead hanging sign that would hang outside the dojo to recognize the location and the company providing the service. The condition of this wooden Japanese Dojo sign is preserved with a natural fissure with some weathering to the wood but otherwise shows preserved condition. The measurements of this Japanese sign are 21" x 46 1/4". The collective weight of this Japanese sign is 26lb 6oz.*
