Neil Mitchell (1858 - 1934) Watercolor and gouache on paper, signed lower left faintly, depicting seascape with surf on rocks, seabirds, and ships in distance, measures 14 x 8 and 18 x 12 inches with custom gilt frame. Mitchill Born in NYC, moved to CT in 1890’s and became the 1st resident artist of Westport; he studied at the National Academy of Design and exhibited there from 1881 to 1888; was a member of the Brooklyn Art Assoc., Boston.
