Native American, Southwestern United States, Hopi Pueblo, ca. late 20th century CE. A hand made pottery cup by an artist from the famous Nampeyo family in the Sikyatki Revival style. The underside is signed "A. Nampeyo," likely by Adelle Lalo Nampeyo (Hopi, b. 1959), the great-granddaughter of famous potter Nampeyo of Hano (1859-1942). Nampeyo is celebrated for reviving and expanding the beautiful ancient style of pottery called Sikyatki, which her descendants have carried on making. Adelle Nampeyo learned to make pottery through watching and working with her mother and grandmother as they made pottery while she was growing up. Size: 3.25" Diameter x 4.75" H (8.3 cm x 12.1 cm)
