The rectangular panels inlaid with mother-of-pearl to depict a steep mountain with a series of buildings and pines in the valley below and respectively inscribed Lianhua feng and Zhusha feng, mounted with a frame combining boxwood and hardwood, supported on ornately carved and pierced stands.

Provenance: acquired from Spink & Son Ltd., London, 10 February 1978 (according to a hand written label to the base).

The two panels respectively depict the Lianhua and Zhusha mountains in the Huangshan mountain range in Anhui Provence.

The panels are slightly bowed and have some losses to the mother of pearl inlay. There is light cracking to the reverse, the panels may have been repurposed for the screen with the frame and stand being a later date than the panels. There are losses to the rim of the stand of one of the stands, and to the wood decorative pins holding in the panels to the frame. There are further minor defects to the stands including surface wear and a small break through the central boxwood decorative element.
