Light-tight walnut box with fitted sections for six thin plates or daguerreotype plates with a maximum thickness of 1.1 mm, maximum plate size 109.9 x 168 mm, minimum required plate width (so that the plates do not fall out of the groove) 105.5 mm, external dimensions 17.8 x 2.9 x 13 cm. - Note: Suitable for the Parisian "half-plate" of 6 x 4 in. (108 x 162 mm) or the English "double-quarter" of 6 ½ x 4 ¼ in. (10.7 x 16.5 cm). Very rare accessory from the early days of photography.
