A SEVRES BISCUIT PORTRAIT BUST OF TSAR ALEXANDER I. 1826 The rear of the truncation marked "AB Jt 26 n 1" for MASCRET JEAN-ETIENNE (active 1811-1848). 21 cm. high overall Our bust is a diminished copy of the marble bust by Bertel THORVALDSEN (now in the State Hermitage Museum in Saint-Petersburg). A later copy of our bust was presented by the Sèvres Manufacture to the Russian Imperial couple when on visit to France in 1896. Until 1917 that bust could be seen in the Silver salon (Salon Louis XV) of the Winter Palace. It is now in the collection of the State Hermitage Museum.
