Description
**Originally Listed At $1500**
Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 23 to 2.6 million years ago. A fossilized tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark - the largest shark species to ever exist! The enamel is a smokey gray hue, unpolished and naturally lustrous; some of the serrations along the peripheries are intact - running from the tip to root along the classic V shape. The serrations demonstrate the great tearing capability these sharks had- their jaws also had the strength to crush a small car - a frightening thought! Megalodons were among the largest predators the ocean ever saw, but their teeth are the only parts that have survived since their cartilage bodies could not fossilize. Size: 6" L x 4.28" W (15.2 cm x 10.9 cm)
Provenance: Private Berthoud, Colorado, USA collection
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.
