A GEORGE III SILVER JARDINERE OR BASKET AND STAND
MARK OF WILLIAM FRISBEE, LONDON, 1800
Details
Oval, with pierced arcaded sides centred on each side with a circular ribbon-tied medallion, engraved with a crest on one side and coat-of-arms on the other, the pierced rim with a band of vitruvian scrolls, each end with ram's mask drop-ring handles and on four acanthus bud feet, the conforming stand of similar form, similarly engraved, marked on bases
the stand 15 1/4 in. (39 cm.) wide
78 oz. 3 dwt. (2,431 gr.)
The arms are those of Greg impaling Hibbert, for Thomas Greg (1752-1832) of Coles Park, co. Herford and his wife Margaret (1749-1808) whom he married in 1774.
