Vivian Maier (American, 1926-2009) At the News Stand, Chicago (6 works), 1968 Negatives 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches (6.4 x 6.4 cm) (images) From the Ron Slattery collection The six images in the set of negatives that comprise this lot show Chicago in 1968. With shots of newspapers speaking to the local and national unrest of the moment, and a telling view of a Playboy magazine discarded and covering the news, Maier uses one of her signature subjects to suggest her reflections on the moment. Interspersed in the lot are other images of various candid street scenes. Daily life continues even as history unfolds. No prints are included with the lot.
