Samuel Fisk Green (1822-1884), autograph letter signed. Vattacotta. April 4, 1851. 4to. 4 pages. ******* An extensive letter by this notable American medical missionary, addressed to his "dear Friends." Green served with the American Ceylon Mission. During his tenure, he founded Sri Lanka's first medical hospital. The letter provides updates regarding his medical and missionary work. "In Brahmanism, Satan stands entrenched." "To see all our Christians together is a pleasant sight, but the number seems small compared with the toil, time, and expense bestowed in the land." Accompanied by full transcription of the contents.
