New York, [1860.] 12mo, in original publisher's printed wrappers. 80 pp. ********* Contains the December 1860 Declaration of Independence of South Carolina, along with an article explaining that when "enough returns from the election had been received to render it certain that Abraham Lincoln would be the next President, public meetings were held in the city of Charleston...." South Carolina was the first state to secede from the Union. Also included here are numerous election returns from the states for the contentious 1860 election.
