Description

Offered in this lot is a Preston Monongye sterling silver overlay bolo tie. This slide has a great sterling silver overlay Mudhead design with near perfect lines and cuts displayed with a nice darkened background for contrast and detail. The slide is on a black braided cord with silver tips. This bolo tie by multiple award winning artist Preston Monongye is definitely for a true collector and one that will be cherished for years to come. Start bidding today!
MAKER: Hallmarked with Peyote Bird with a P between the tail and the wings (stamped). Preston Monongye (1927-1987; Mission/Hopi adopted). Active 1960s to 1987. Monongye was a master artisan, accomplished wood carver, and painter. He won multiple awards for his "new Indian art" designs. Most of his overlay work was done in the early 1960s. The hallmark on this piece was used from the late 1950s to 1960s.
APPROX AGE: Circa 1950s to 1960s.
SIZE: The leather cord measures 35 inches overall including the tips. The slide measures 2 3/4 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide, the tips measure 2 inches long. The total weight for this item is 38.4 grams (with most of the cord off the scale).
CONDITION: Good for its age, normal wear expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition.
