Mende Bundu Wood Mask. This mask is an altar piece in a bird-like form on a post, featuring a head with a clearly articulated face and piercing eyes. The body lacks details, except for two pigmented vertical carvings on the neck. Made for ritual use, specifically involving the initiation of girls into womanhood.
