Description

GEORGIAN ENGLISH STERLING SILVER SERVING UTENSILS, LOT OF TWO, each by a London maker having a backwards-tipped fiddle handle with pointed shoulders and a heraldry-type engraving to tip, comprising a fish server by William Knight II with 1817 date mark having a large pierced and engraved scimitar blade featuring fish and bird design, and a sauce ladle by Solomon Hougham with 1807 date mark. Each impressed with maker's mark and four hallmarks of a lion passant for sterling fineness, a crowned leopard's head city mark for London, a date mark, and a King George III duty mark. Total weight: 5.260 ozt. Early 19th century. 6 5/8" and 11 1/8" LOA.

Condition

Fish server in very good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, and nicks; ladle in good to very good visual condition with wear, surface scratches, nicks, and a few minor dents, a repair to handle near shoulders.
