WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA BRUTON PARISH CHURCH PRESENTATION STERLING SILVER BASKET, lobed oblong well having reticulated border along foliate rim, featuring bail handle with figural flower basket terminals, raised on an ovoid pedestal-type foot, engraved to base with "AN APPRECIATION / TO / REV E RUFFIN JONES / AND / JANE DABNEY JONES / 1909-1926 / BRUTON PARISH CHURCH". Impressed to underside of foot with a maker's mark for International Silver Co. of Meriden, CT in addition to "Sterling / 1745 1/2". Total weight: 16.545 ozt. Circa 1926. 10 1/4" HOA, 12 1/2" x 8 1/2" OA rim.
Catalogue Note:Â Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, VA was established in 1674 and still exists today. Reverend E. Ruffin Jones served as rector of the church from 1909 to 1926, and this present basket was a departing gift from the congregation.
Condition
Very good overall condition with minor wear, surface scratches, and nicks, a few minute/small dents.
