WASHINGTON, DC RETAILED, DURGIN "CHRYSANTHEMUM" STERLING SILVER PUNCH LADLE, pattern designed by George A. Muller in 1893, having an ovoid, double-spouted bowl with gilt interior and ornate bas-relief decoration of chrysanthemum flowers and leaves, which continues onto the long curved handle. Back of handle with the "D" maker's mark for Durgin, which was sold to Gorham Mfg. Co. of Providence, RI in 1905, in addition to "STERLING 925/1000 PATENT" and a retailer's mark for Galt & Bro. of Washington, DC. Total weight: 10.695 ozt. Late 19th/first half 20th century. 14 1/2" LOA.
Condition
Very good overall condition with minor wear, minor to moderate surface scratches, and nicks, a dent to center of bowl, minor worn spots to gilt finish and to raised decoration.
