Framed measurements: 110 x 85 cmMariano Nani Naples c. 1725 Madrid 18041_ . prominent Italian painter active in Spain specialized in still life painting began working with his father in 1755 in the royal porcelain factory of Capodimonte with the title of painter decorator .2 He moved to Spain in 1759 in the entourage of Charles III. Installed in Madrid he collaborated with his designs in the creation of the Real Fabrica de Porcelanas del Buen Retiro without abandoning the painting of still lifes and miniatures. In 1764 the year in which the Still Life with Lamb and Birds of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando is dated he was admitted to this institution as an academic of merit. His style is characterized by marked influences of Paul de Vos and flemish painting interpreted with a dramatic sense and vibrant colors. It can be found in works such as A dog and a cat fighting for a pigeon Palacio Real de Aranjuez . or in some of the hunts of large game pieces intended for tapestry cartoons such as the two preserved in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in storage at the Prado Museum: Bear and Deer Hunting and Deer Hunting. Provenance: important private collection from Madrid.
