Description
A pair of extra large antique Japanese Satsuma porcelain floor vases of the Meiji period. Each of circular base, with large curved bodies, and trumpet-shaped flared rims. Both vases have identical polychrome decoration with images of oriental characters. Each item with twin gilt sculpted fishes on the neck and decorative ring handles with bows on the sides. Satsuma ware pieces were originally developed in Japan during the seventeenth century, specifically in the southern regions of the Japanese island of Kyushu.
