Attributed to Francois Bernard (French/New Orleans, 1812-1875), "Probable Portrait of Emma Pollock (1830-1909)," ca. 1855, oil on linen, unsigned, presented in a period giltwood frame, H.- 30 in., W.- 25 in., Framed- H.- 44 in., W.- 33 1/2 in. Provenance: Descended in the Capdevielle through the granddaughters of the sitters, Edith (1886-1959) and Yvonne Capdevielle (1884-1960).Note: Emma Pollock never married, and lived with her sister's family-the Larues, and then later with her niece, Mrs. Paul Capdevielle family until her death in 1909. In her obituary she was regarded as one of the finest respected ladies of the City, who traveled extensively.
