MONUMENTAL RUSSIAN SILVER GILT SOUP TUREEN
A very collectible MONUMENTAL Russian silver-gilt soup tureen, raised on a circular stand decorated with applied medallions depicting rocaille foliage and Russian Imperial double-headed eagles. Round shields inscribed in Russian read: 'FOR FAITH AND LOYALTY', the motto of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called, set with a green gemstone cabochon in the center. It stands on four paw feet adorned with winged cherubs. The tureen is elongated and flanked by two scrolled handles surmounted by the heads of bearded men. The matching lid is decorated with applied elements depicting sphinxes, floral garlands, and relief busts, and it is set with cut gemstones - RUBIES and DIAMONDS.
HALLMARKS: '84' for silver standard, 'FABERGE' in Cyrillic and 'CB' in Latin for Carl Carlovich Blank - FABERGE workmaster - more information below.

PROVENANCE: 1. By descent through a THIRD generation Russian emigree family, New York, USA; 2. Antique Arena Inc, Brooklyn, New York, USA, May 13, 2023 (the winner will receive this information); 3. LARGE SIZE: Bowl - 7 1/2 x 6 x 6 1/4 inches (19 x 15.3 x 16 cm). Base - diameter 8 inches (20.3 cm). HEAVY, weight: 1.405 grams.

HISTORY of SALES: A few years ago, silver soup tureens (not Faberge !) were sold on Christie's for $86,660 (20 years ago), $140,430 (18 years ago), $158,500 (12 years ago), and $315,630 (5 years ago) - please refer to the screenshots for details. Today, prices have significantly increased compared to those of 5-10 years ago.
WARRANTY: The buyer has 3 days to inspect items for originality, valued at up to $5,000, and 5 days for items valued at $5,000 or more. Items can be returned to the seller for a refund; please refer to the Terms for more details.
NO RESERVE: Most of the auctioned items have NO reserve price or have reserve prices set at incredibly low levels, typically ranging from 30-40% of the low estimate price.

CARL BLANK: Carl Carlovich Blank who was born in Finland and moved to St. Petersburg to learn jewelry business. He joined the renowned firm of Karl Hahn, being made partner in 1911. Awarded the Imperial warrant at the end of the 19th century, the firm competed with Faberge for Imperial commissions. Carl Blank won prizes for excellence at an exhibition in 1896 and won favor with the Imperial family by specializing in the diamond presentation gifts for the Russian Court.
