ANTIQUE RUSSIAN IMPERIAL SILVER and GLASS NOTEBOOK, 1900x
The surface is decorated with relief overlays: one in the form of a flying eagle clutching a shield bearing Cyrillic engravings and a '84' silver standard stamp. Another overlay takes the shape of an oblong enameled pentagon featuring an owl image, while a third one showcases three enameled stars and Russian engravings reading 'Constellation of the Great Dog'.
HALLMARKS: All four silver legs and the holder are stamped with '84' silver Russian standard hallmarks, the assay mark, and 'IP' for the famous FABERGE workmaster Julius Alexandrovitch Rappoport - please see the information below.

PROVENANCE: 1. By descent through a THIRD generation Russian emigree family, New York, USA; 2. Antique Arena Inc, Brooklyn, New York, USA, June 12, 2021 (the winner will receive this information); 3. DIMENSIONS: 5 3/4 x 7 1/4 x 2 inches (18 x 12.5 x 5.5 cm). Total weight including glass: 552 grams.

HISTORY of SALES: A few years ago, Russian notebooks were sold on Live Auctioneers and Christie's for $2,100, $2,100, $6,055, and $38,200 - please refer to the screenshots for details. Today, prices have significantly increased compared to those of 5-10 years ago.
INVESTMENT: This is a true investment and heirloom-quality piece of the highest level, as it will continue to increase in value each year.
WARRANTY: The buyer has 5 days to inspect items for originality, valued at up to $5,000, and 10 days for items valued at $5,000 or more. Items can be returned to the seller for a refund; please refer to the Terms for more details.

Julius RAPPOPORT: Julius Alexandrovitch Rappoport, Russian silversmith, Faberge workmaster. Born in 1864. Trained in Berlin, one of Faberge's rare craftsmen of Jewish origin. Julius Rappoport opened his first own workshop in St. Petersburg at Ekateriniski Canal in 1883, then he moved to Moscow to become a Faberge workmaster. His maker's mark was IP and in Russian Cyrillic. He belonged from 1886 till 1908 to four 'workmasters', main leaders of Faberge workshops. He was the Faberge's most important supplier of large silver objects. He is best known for his naturalistic animal figures (massive silver casts), but he also executed special commissions for the Imperial Family, the Imperial Cabinet and noble families Yousupov an others. Recently a few of these special commissions that were designed by Faberge, and made by Rappoport, have been auctioned by Bonhams and Christies in London (England) and in Munich. His workshop was taken over by the First Silver Artel around 1909. Died in 1916.
