"Casey" Stengel (July 30, 1890 – September 29, 1975) was an American Major League Baseball right fielder and manager, best known as the manager of the championship New York Yankees of the 1950s and later, the expansion New York Mets. Nicknamed "the Ol' Perfessor", he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966.
Sidney Gordon (August 13, 1917 – June 17, 1975) was an American right-handed Major League Baseball two-time All-Star outfielder, third baseman, and first baseman. He had a 13-year career in MLB [1941 - 1955] mostly for the New York Giants.
In 1941 Sid Gordon (CF) appeared in a game in which the lineup featured an all-time record four Jews. In addition to himself, the Giants’ starting nine included Harry Feldman (P), Morrie Arnovich (LF), and Harry Danning (C). The Giants, with their Jewish plurality, defeated the Boston Braves, 4-0.
