Description
Good pair of World War I propaganda posters, both advertising the issue of ‘Liberty Loans’, war bonds used to support the Allied cause. Includes: full-color poster, 20 x 30 in., depicting the Liberty Bell beneath the title ‘Ring it again’. The poster continues: ‘Buy A United States Government Bond of the Second Liberty Loan of 1917 - Help Your Country and Yourself’. It is labeled ‘No. 3’ at the bottom left and bears the publishing line ‘Ketterlinus, Phila.’ at the bottom right. Marginal tears and mounting remnants at the corners. WITH: a second full-color poster, 20 x 30 in., depicting an American soldier shaking hands with his elderly father, a farm in the background, beneath the text: ‘Good Bye, Dad, I'm Off To Fight For Old Glory, You Buy U.S. Gov't Bonds’. The bold red text: ‘Third Liberty Loan’ appears at the bottom, while the printed signature of artist Lawrence Harris is placed at the lower left of the image. A publishing line at the bottom right indicates that the poster was printed by the Sackett & Wilhelms Corp. of New York. Marginal tears. Two pieces, very good.
