Description
An excellent association document sent to the U.S.S. WASP, 1p. oblong 8vo., Washington, D.C., Nov. 11, 1918, the very day the fighting of World War I ended, and time stamped 12:40 PM. The document is a ‘U.S. Naval Radio Service’ notice and reads in full: ‘Hostilities ceased. All restrictions regarding vessel’s lights removed. Until assurance can be given that the United States & Canadian Atlantic Coasts are clear of mines, vessels when within the hundred fathom curve should use otters and avoid probable mined areas.’ One can only imagine the celebratory cries of joy upon receipt of this most anticipated message. Light spotting, else very good.
