Description
A neat World War II relic, a 5.25 high x 1.33 dia. engine valve recovered from a P-38 fighter of the 466th Battalion, 8th AAF, which crashed in Coxhill, England, on May 26, 1944. Set into a circular wood plaque and given in memory of the pilot, Second Lieutenant Lane A. Ferrara of Kenmore, N.Y. The legend on the base reads: ‘Engine Valve from P-38 Lightning 42-67199, May 26, 1944. In memory of 2/LT Lane A. Ferrara, Kenmore N.Y. 496 Ftg 8AAF Coxhill, England’. The valve needs to be re-set into the base, otherwise very good.
