Description
Fine and rare photographic book ‘Schonheit Im Olympischen Kampf’ ('Beauty in Olympic Battle') written by filmmaker and photographer Leni Riefenstahl [Berlin: Deutscher Verlag, [1937], first edition, 286pp. folio with gravure plates. Text in German, French, English, Italian and Spanish. Riefenstahl's magnificent photographic chronicle of the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, including photographs of the running of the torch, opening ceremonies, German ‘ideal’ nudes, Hitler, Jessie Owens taking off for his world-record jump, as well as other athletes, closing ceremonies, and a section on the photographer and her team at work. A superb work, issued in conjunction with her film, ‘Olympia’. The slightest of scuffing to the covers, otherwise in near fine condition.
