Scarce album of stereoscopic images 'Deutsche Gaue' ('German Districts') (Diessen: Otto Schonstein, 1938), First Edition, 191pp. with 128 stereoscopic images and original viewer, hardbound folio, with half green cloth over stamped mottled cream boards with beveled edges. Covers show foxing to green cloth, bumping to corners and sunning to the spine. Interior of the covers show damping and light foxing, contents otherwise are very good. 'Gau(e)' is an ancient Germanic term for ‘territory’, and was brought back into use during the Nazi era. During that time Germany had 42 gaus which are featured throughout the album, showing cities, farms, mountains, seaports, and so forth.
