Item Details

Description

(1902 - 1947) French general and posthumously a Marshal of France. Leclerc joined the Free French forces after the fall of France, and under Patton his 2nd Armored Division participated in the battle of the Falaise Pocket and went on to liberate Paris. Represented France in the surrender of Japan, killed in an aircraft accident. Rare S.P., 4 x 5 in. b/w, a postcard photo of the great general reviewing his armored forces, boldly signed. Trimmed, with the verso covered with a period paper backing. Fine.
