(1885 – 1966) German general who commanded several corps, most notably the VIII Armeekorps. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross. Forster retired from active duty in January 1944. He was arrested by the Soviet authorities following the war and convicted as a war criminal in the Soviet Union, and was held until 1955.
