About the artists: Ukrainian, Soviet painter. Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. Born in 1946 in the Penza region. He began to draw Gene at the age of seven. At this age, his parents took him to an art studio. Later he graduated from the painting and pedagogical department of the Republican art school, then - Kharkov Art Institute and 37 years ago was sent to work in Vinnitsa. While working at an art factory, he realized many projects to decorate the city and the region. Monumental mosaic works, stained-glass windows, created by the hands of G. Soldatov , and today they decorate Vinnitsa. Several paintings by the artist became the property of local art and local history museums. And many more paintings of the original talented artist remained in the family collections of Vinnitsa. The artist devoted several paintings to the construction of the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. In the catalogs of the works of Soldatov G.V. dominated by his favorite genre - portrait. Each of them is written by an attentive psychologist. Able to find a highlight of the Soldiers in a man. As a portrait painter, Gennady Vasilievich is considered a leading specialist in Sumy. Not so long ago, by order of the culture department of the regional state administration, he painted portraits of famous compatriots - an outstanding psychiatrist, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences Yevgeny Popov, painter, architect and graphic artist Vasily Krichevsky, Olympic champion, multiple weightlifting world champion Leonid Zhabotinsky.
