Illinois Watch Co., Springfield, Illinois, a gold "Manhattan" pocket watch, 11 jewels, 18 size, transitional stem wind and lever set, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement and cut bimetallic balance in an 18 karat, yellow gold engine turned and engraved hunting case, roman numeral, double sunk white enamel dial with blued steel spade hands, serial #221530, 136.2g TW
Condition
CASE: Small, shallow dents; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on inner surface of case; Short scratch on inside of back cover; Cuvette with a few case knife marks and scratches; Front cover hinge a bit sticky; Engine turning nearly worn smooth; Bow with minor wear; Bezel lacking hinge pin and with one broken tube; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Dirty, otherwise very good. HANDS: Minor oxide. MOVEMENT PLATES: Very fine scratches on plate; A more significant scratch to the right of the balance cock; Balance cock foot with minor gouge; Regulator and stud with specks of oxide; Dirty. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks); Would benefit from service, circa 1880
