Description
H. Boerger, a Mulhouse, a late 18th century quarter striking pendule Neuchateloise with bracket, the waisted case with black lacquer finish decorated with gilt floral and foliate ornaments, gilded feet, door and trim, the molded top with ball finial, signed roman numeral white enamel dial with pierced and engraved gilt brass hands, 15 day, two train movement with verge escapement and silk thread suspended pendulum, striking ting tang quarters on two bells, and pull repeat sounding the last hour and quarter on demand, the back plate marked "H.L.R.", possibly for Henry Louis Roy, the clock with its original wall bracket and paperwork from Richard Redding antiques
Condition
black lacquer finish not original to the clock, minor losses to gesso and gold leaf, case front with minor misalignment at lower left, dial with short crack at 9:00, and filled loss above 12:00, hands good, movement ticking, the second quarter not sounding in passing at the half hour, repeating functioning correctly, repeat train running rather fast, finish on bracket with minor flaking, small loss to shelf at left, molding with a few dents and losses to gold leaf, ACCESSORIES: Pendulum, Top, Bracket, Winding Key, circa 1790
