Octagonal Mahogany Tripod Table, New England, c. 1785. Single-board octagonal top with string-inlaid border and slightly recessed in cockbead-molded edges, the bottom screw-mounted to wide beveled cleat tenoned to solid baluster-turned post carved with reeding continuing to spiral fluting above cylindrical base in-cut to conform with three blind-dovetailed cabriole legs with well-defined C-scrolls behind the knees and terminating in equally crisp rat claw feet, refinished, 58cm wide, 53cm deep, 66cm high (23in wide, 21in deep, 26 3/4in high).
