Description
The oil on canvas painting in the tradition of European School compositions by any number of artists depicts a young woman in straw hat with shears cutting flowers and filling the pockets of her dress. The work is inscribed on the stretcher, 'Painted at Wellesley College Spring 1879 Clara McLelland.' The remains of a Boston art supplies company are found on the stretchers as well.Wellesley College is a private women's liberal arts college founded in Wellesley, Massachusetts in 1870.
The 13 x 10 inch oil on canvas measures approximately 17 x 13 inches overall.
