*NO SHIPPING! - PICKUP OR THIRD PARTY TRANSPORT ONLY* Historic 1886 E. Howard Tower Clock Mechanism Restored E. Howard clock mechanism originally installed in the B.M.C. Durfee High School tower in Fall River Mass. The Howard Clock Co. records show that on November 02, 1886 this No.3 Striker serial No. 1118 was sold to the B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall River, Mass. The school was built and dedicated in 1889 as a donation from Mrs. Mary B. Young to the people of the city of Fall River, in memory of her son Bradford Matthew Chaloner Durfee, who had died at the age of 27 in 1872. The clock itself, one of the largest ever made by the E. Howard Clock Co. of Boston, sat 114 feet above grade. The clockworks were driven by a 450-pound pendulum beating 34 times per minute. At the time of its installation, the clock was said to be keeping time within plus or minus three seconds a week. Mechanism has been completely restored including gold leaf striping and ornamentation to the cast iron base. A real showpiece. Measures 74" wide, 36" deep, 70" tall. Does not have pendulum, weight , cable, or crank. No shipping, pick up or 3rd party transport only.
