Description
1963 MV Agusta 50cc Liberty
Registration no. not registered
Frame no. MVL*813426*
Engine no. MV-L-813725
Although best known for their racing and road-going four-cylinder four-strokes, MV Agusta built lightweights throughout its manufacturing career and in its early days listed small two-strokes and even a scooter. Indeed, between 1955 and 1959 they listed a moped and in 1962 introduced the 50cc Liberty, an ultra-lightweight sports roadster. The Italian Highway Code no longer required such machines to have pedals, and the Liberty was aimed squarely at youngsters who wanted something more stylish than the traditional step-thru moped. A four-stroke in a field dominated by two-strokes, the Liberty featured a three-speed twistgrip-change gearbox at first while 1967-onwards models had a foot-change four-speeder. Turismo, Sport, and Super Sport versions were available. Nothing is known of the history of this Liberty. There are no documents with this motorcycle, which is offered for restoration and sold strictly as viewed.
